Kendall Jenner’s cut-outs, Jared Leto’s pink hair, and Billie Eilish’s new relationship: LACMA Art + Film Gala
Last month, Kendall Jenner’s cut-outs became the first of their kind to be sold, and while the pop star’s co-star in the video for her track “Breathe Me” recently posted a video of her using the dress, it was not the first time the dress had been used. But it is the first time a fashion statement has been sold through the LACMA’s Art + Film Gala series.
Jenner, 17, was one of only two women to be included in the list of the event’s “Artists on Art” category.
“If you were to go at it from a business standpoint, you would have to sell this dress, because it takes up a very big chunk of space!” said Gala organizer Lizzie Dearden of the LACMA.
In the video, which is set to an acoustic version of “Breathe Me,” Jenner wears what appears to be a very short, black cocktail dress, with a wide, open collar (pictured right). It is the same dress she wore on Saturday night to perform with Miley Cyrus in New York City.
Last fall, the dress was part of a collaboration with a New York-based label, Yves Saint Laurent, which put Jenner’s name on the gown, to be sold at the Paris-based brand’s spring 2013 men’s line called Yves Saint Laurent: The Collection. The label has since been sold at retailers like Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York and Saks.
The LACMA Gala is part of the “Art + Film Series,” which will continue through July 31. The series features films and other art installations and runs in conjunction with the museum’s Art + Film event series.
