stupid, useless pokemon fact but the trading machines was to essentially rewrite the pokemon. Everyone forgets that pokemon, as a species themselves, are very digital reliant and the pokeball is really telling them everything about themselves. The trading machines is to rewrite on the pokeball and pokemon that they have a new owner. When you trade pokemon you swap pokeballs and the machine was needed, otherwise the pokemon wouldn't recognise the new owner.

Don't worry, I got this one. The pokemon trading machine does more than just hand over a pokemon to different trainers. It registers the trade and the trainer i.d. and making sure the pokemon is not stolen by sending all the info into the system.

Aaaaaahhhh, I'm a big fan of Kiana's! EDIT: Also, yeah. Jessie got Wobuffet via an accidental trade with a perfectly innocent boy. My favorite part about it is that the boy was so desperate to trade away Wobuffet, even though they didn't seem to not get along? He was willing to trade it for whatever Pokemon and was absolutely thrilled to get the Lickitung for it. And despite Jessie not wanting the Wobuffet at first, she never went out of her way to find out what happened to her Lickitung. She just. Accepted that she lost it somewhere, somehow, and now was stuck with Wobuffet in its place. Though the absolute best part is the fact that the Pokemon just upped and accepted their new lives like it was no big deal. Like Lickitung was fine with having a perfectly innocent and adequate boy as its new Trainer and Wobuffet immediately accepted that it was a villain now. Like, it actually works hard to make Jessie proud and really cares for her and all, not caring that it's helping kidnap fellow Pokemon from their own trainers.
