Fixing up a Straight-Six BMW E46 325i Touring - Project Cologne: Part 2
Get ready for another fast-paced action-packed video. It's all about mechanics and wrenching in this one. I set about sprucing up my cheap E46 325i Touring that at first glance didn't look too bad but turned out to be heavily mistreated by its previous owners. Lots of satisfying torque wrench clicks, ratchets, tool droppings... while I grump and sweat my way through this BMW. Price breakdown towards the end of the video.

This has helped me greatly! I got a e46 touring from a friend of mine and I know it has not of issues. I wanted to replace every that I can in the engine to make it a very solid daily. I've watch countless videos and nobody has broken down. is there anyway that you have a parts list that is not only oem but also some performance parts as well? In my city, nobody has a e46 touring so I want to make mine the one to really stand out

Managed to buy an E39 528 with a M52 engine very cheap back in 2005. It was only 7 yrs old at the time. Every cold start up caused masses of blue smoke that was embarrassing. I took the head off thinking that the valve oil seals was worn and to check the cylinders for wear. None of these was the culprit. I found out after massive googling of possible causes that it was the return pipe from the oil separator had blocked severely - 11:20. After removing and clearing the blockage, and replacing the pipes and valve, never happened again. I still own this car today and is the only car I have.

Fixing BMW's mess is fun though, surprised most of it was still usuable after all those years. Still a great engine when all the plastic crap is removed connected to it. Don't forget to plug those spark plug holes when working under the valve cam cover !

Definitely top-notch, educational yet entertaining videos! Thank you for that! Question on the VANOS: did you get a kit or assemble all the parts yourself? Beisan only provides the seals, but not the bearings, which I intend to replace, too. Please let me know, thanks!

The fact this hour long video has 373k likes and he only has 195k subscribers is not fair. Probably the quickest hour long video I have watched. One question, what was the purpose of the heater controls before filling/bleeding the cooling system? I know that turns the water pump on for e90's for the bleeding process but what does it do for the e46? Love the channel!

Can anyone tell me why some of these cars have ATF(red) and some have CHF(green) power steering fluid? My 520i, M54 engine, says CHF only on the cap, and I've tried looking into it but havent found any solid answers. What does CHF and ATF stand for? Central Hydraulic Fluid? Automatic Transmission Fluid?

I can confirm that such an oil flush can be useful. A few years ago my Mk3 Golf would flash the oil light if you let off the gas and it would drop below 3000 rpm. If you slowly decelerated it wouldn't flash. Oil level was fine too. Did an oil change with a bottle of engine flush and it NEVER happened afterwards.

I think this could very well suit me if it had an automatic gearbox and with the rear seats removed or folded down flat and some conversion work done in the rear, this kind of car could very well become my project 21, as I need a fairly large booted car so I can sleep comfortably when I am allowed to break free of house arrest and join the rest of the world in travel freedom ?? Cheers Mate.
