I believe the theory that the warden was made is true but I dont believe that the race went to the end and didnt come back they had to come back because if you look close enough at the end portal blocks underneath all that green they look exactly like end stone and if they are. Where did those ancient people get it when it is only found in the end?

What if iron golems have soul sand inside of them and the wardens were iron golems brought down or built in the strongholds and eventually came into contact with sculk and it ate away at the iron in the middle of them?

Assuming story mode game is canon ivor literally confirms many of the theories matpat makes

theory they created iron golms and they got lost and came in contact with skulk

and the only thing it could eat was the I forgot what its called the sensor thing so it made a connection and grew a connection with it and that is my theory

i think the warden was in the stronghold until a player/mob came and the warden chased it into the deepest caves and was never seen at the stronghold again waiting for its next victim to get revenge on what happened

I don't think your right about the builders doing it last time you said evokes used soul's and they did it to scare them away from there villiger enemy's but it turned on them and I think that the evil villiger made the portal to trap the builders and get them out of there mitts so it is easier to get to the villiger because even though the builders are not friends of villigers the builders would come to help them and make a army iron golems but there plan worked but it was not what got them out and wanted to kill all to bretect the place they hide in the cave and everyone hides from the forgotten Warren only to be found by you

Now that I put two and two together, the wardens seem close to guardians from The Legend Of Zelda BOTW. When Matt at 3:22 said that the wardens were made through more artificial means by the ancient builder ancestors, like how the guardians were built by Sheikah (hope I spelled that right) from 10,000 years ago.

This comments about to be pretty long so you might want to skip this but here’s my theory The skulk started as a normal vine, but an experiment gone wrong with either the builders or evokers basically poisoned it. It became infected and more closely related to humans than vines. It began to eat other things, and they happened to be created while the builders were still around. They started to feed off of the rotten flesh thrown away by the builders, and started to retain the infectious abilities of the zombies, and they soon began infecting other vines. This happened at about the same time as the builders were fleeing, so they needed to find another food source, but more importantly, no one knew about them. They began to infect the iron golems, which slowly turned blue. The villagers were scared, but couldn’t do anything. Because the iron golems were gone, the zombies were able to get at the villagers. This is what made the abandoned villages. It also meant that there were more zombies. Any time a zombie died, the skulks would eat the rotten flesh, and they started to take the iron golems away. They found a strange portal and soon found it led them into the depths of he11. It was much more hot than they were used to, so they had to stay low to keep cool. They found should sand, where the screaming souls inside created enough air to keep them alive. The souls found home in the iron golems, which were now skulks. With the help of souls, they were able to get back to the portals. Never wanting to have to go back into the nether again, they migrated underground, so that the horrible experience in the nether would never have to be relived. They found some old tunnels dug by the ancient builders, which were probably losing the power of human speech at the moment. The skulks found home in ravines and caves, and began to evolve to live in the new area. They became larger, so as to keep more warmth in (I’m sorry if that’s completely wrong, I’m 9 years old, I don’t know about this stuff) they became darker and taller and stronger. The skulks then began to breed more, as there weren’t enough of the mutated iron golems to go around, they attached themselves to the floor. At this point in time the builders were nearly completely endermen, and the mutated iron golems went blind. Why see if there’s nothing TO see? This created a completely different creature, and it was called a warden, because it guarded over those skulks for so long. The few skulks still on the surface began to breed with other things, making the new vines (I forgot what they were called), but the surface skulks eventually died out. But hey, that’s just a theory, a THEORY THAT WAS GREATLY BASED ON THE VIDEO THAT I JUST COMMENTED ON AND I SPENT WAY TOO LONG ON THIS ANYWAY I HOPE YOU LIKED IT!!!

It seems more like that, the Ancient Builders went into the nether and used the Soul Sand to make their creations

What if the warden guards the exit to the end because enderman are found in all dimensions and mostly the nether where the wither was most likely spawned... So what if the enderman sent some of themselves to kill The wither but couldn't find it not knowing it died over time so they never knew anything and couldn't come back?

GREAT video once again!! perhaps the warden just looks like the iron golem, because they were created by the same people for kinda the same purpose - with a few changes tho like the issue not to see (probably because its dark in the cave and it makes more sense relying on different senses). Plus mobile phones these days also look a tad different to what they used to look like - so its just how things go. thats why I dont think the Warden is capable of transforming iron golems.

Idea: This might be a stretch, but the eerie green-black texture of the warden and the sculk matching up with the end portal could mean that maybe the sculk/warden came from the end? If you think about it, it doesn’t sound too far-fetched. The deep dark, the biome in which the wardens spawn, is in the same layer, now known as the grim stone layer by the Minecraft community, is the same level at which strongholds spawn. The warden and sculk’s texture also matches up with the ender dragon’s texture, and if the ender dragon is the evil tyrant you tell it to be, then maybe it created a creature that mindlessly protected it, no matter what, and several “bodyguards” to make sure that creature can get to its target without getting lost. I’m talking about the warden and the skulk. And the souls in it’s chest? That is implying that some of the ancient builders didn’t exactly survive in the end. The ender dragon took some of the souls and materials from the end, made the sculk and warden, and set them loose in the deep dark to try and kill anyone who wants to kill the ender dragon. And the reason it’s so hostile to you is because it knows that you are the chosen one, the one that will kill the ender dragon, the one that will kill its creator. Sounds corny, but makes sense.

I’m sorry matpat...... But dream might be better at this Minecraft lore explaining than you XD You guys should collaborate for the rest of this series!

hold up, I just thought about the end portal blocks and saw that they're partially made of end stone How would they have gotten their hands on that though if it's only a one way trip and the Ender Dragon wasn't defeated? unless there's something I don't know about which explains this.

My head cannon: It's called the warden, because it's prisoners are the souls in it's chest, also, soul sand is literal souls, so yeah, we know that's a thing. So what if the sulkers are like the guards to alert the warden when intruders are near by? That be why they are same species basically, and perhaps the purpose of the warden was to monitor the stronghold with the portal, but because they became corrupt or forgot who made them?

I have a theory that since the Warden was supposedly made to guard the strongholds, the reason they are blind is because the endermen who are the ancient builders took their eyes, the ender pearls (because of the shade of green) and that's why they're blind

Theory: When Dream said the warden was made to protect the portal in the strong hold maybe the Warden took out the eyes of the portal so it will close the portal. When the ancient humans went into the portal maybe the Warden was made to trap them in there by removing the eyes and when the humans got trapped by the Warden they turned into Endermen by eating the ender fruits like you said in the enderman theory

Theory: we know ancient race are endermans and there are endermans in the world in video u said there must be a time travel. So What if some of the endermans time traveled after player beated the ender dragon. So endermas could go to normal world. İf they can time travel can they go before ancient race become enderman? Maybe some of those enderman triyed to protect stronghold so their race woudny do the same mistake again. But they failed. As we know ancient reace existed as humans long time ago. That means endermans had a long time and in that time enderman lived in caves because of that they started evolving and became warden. Note: There could be some grammer or vocabulary mistakes because english is not my main language.

meanwhile, my thought about this warden creature: soul soil, skulk block, ender pearl and that one more thing that's probably in that display room or in the stronghold. I also wonder how they'd react with the enderman if the statement above is the case. the lore might say that "due to depth, the warden became sensitive to sounds" since most of activities are done at the surface and the stronghold is deep af... so any long-time sounds may become foreign to the warden and so my thought stops right there =.=
