You paid $400 for this but several years ago you only paid $200 for a pretty late model Ford F-150. Maybe it’s mustie’s way of giving back to the picker gods for the steals he got in the past.

dude, that looks like a mighty mite. they ran them back in the day. the rod with a spring is a tensioner but the knob is gone. I'd also comment that the flooring should be metal /alum plate. same for the seat. it should also be 6V with a positive ground., if my memory is still with me. but they also had negative ground in the late sixties, on some of the kit carts. as too the top, think boat canvas and hardware. much like the corsair. there are others too, that used the same clips and brackets. the tail like think mercury from the fifties,.

Got this from the KM club - Dry and Orcutt introduced the Model 3 King Midget in 1957. The basic body design of this model was used through the end of production. Other significant changes included unit body construction, with the frame and all fixed body components welded together for strength, four wheel hydraulic brakes, and 9.2 horsepower. As time progressed, other improvements evolved. The Philippine mahogany doors were replaced by aluminum doors and, near the end, steel doors. The electrical system was upgraded from 6 to 12 volts in 1961. The old standby Wisconsin AENL engine was replaced by a 12 horsepower Kohler K301 engine in 1966. The clicker low speed pulley was replaced by a silent Borg-Warner one-way clutch in 1967. The brown canvas top was replaced by a vinyl covered black or white top. An optional electric windshield wiper was offered, along with a windshield washer, radio, carpeted panels, floor mats, safety belts and new paint colors: Corinthian white, Rangoon red, yellow, blue and aqua.

The pictures I have seen of one of these are showing me that there are several different models of these things. I'm seeing multiple engine configurations. One shows the gas tank where you have it, and another shows the tank up against the back window, and yet another showing it running along side of the right rear quarter panel. I even saw one with a 20 HP Wisconsin engine in it. I am assuming that the different configurations of the engines are closely related to the different years they were produced or they could be tied in to exact model. The google images I looked at are kind of a mish mash assortment which makes it difficult to tell what year or model you have. These types of projects are the most interesting ones because they are the ones that force you to think and be creative in order to make it all work. The Negative Nelly's don't want to be bothered with that.

Apparently the engine you have may be from the first line of them, made prior to the mid 1950's. From what I can see, you should be able to put in just about anything you want, and then re-register it with the VIN. They were serious "Put in whatever you want" kits. Looks interesting, but I think I'd rather have a Peel Trident.
