Felting wool as opposed to yarn is a far cheaper way to make your balls. You may be able to value add to your wool by finding a place to wash and card/comb your wool into felting wool skeins. But you will need to remove daggy wool/ poopy wool before you bail your wool. Classing the wool value adds. I grew up with merino wool of 22-19 micrograms. I'm not sure what range your sheep fibre range would be. Selling to spinning groups the raw wool or wash carded wool is and option as well. Please sorting colours is so crucial. Seriously the billy black will be your $$ maker.

Roving is absolutely what you want to felt with - the wool is looser, and it doesn't have shape or form, like the yarn does. Plus, much less time to wind. And maybe get a felting tool with multiple needles? It's faster than the single needle, and a little more friendly for the novice.

The ornaments are super cute! 😍Check to see if the yarn is ‘super wash’ or not. Super wash has been treated to resist felting in the wash. Also, you might look into DaughterofaShepherd.com - she was also frustrated with the value of wool.

In the uk I have heard of it being felted into sheets for insulation and fire retardant layers. Also duvets and pillows. That company was at Burghley Horse Trials on the trading stands, but I can’t remember the name. They were the luxury end of the bedding market, but I th8nk they were reasonable for the product quality.

I was wondering why you had decided to try to save her and not cull her earlier because she wouldn't be suitable for market right? Or could she have if you wait long enough? Unless you wanted to keep her for breeding stock. I had to put a lamb down recently after he got stuck upside down for who knows how long. I'd rather put them down humanely than see them suffer and try to save them. But then I second guess myself for weeks wondering if could they have recovered. It sucks. I'm sorry. 😔 Ps your wool would be great for dryer balls! You could always try stabbing those bits of yarn that don't felt with soapy water too. :)

Welcome to the crafting world. Where we constantly steal I mean get ideas from each other. For a so called non crafty person I'm jealous because I think you're better than me. Then again I do Dollar Tree crafts mostly. It's great you're doing your part to help out others as well with your work! You're doing really really great. Also thank you for having the courage to let that little one go peacefully. The biggest thing when it came time to put my cat Flour down. Was how important it was that I stayed & comforted her so she went peacefully. Too bad she also gave my mom the side eye. I was proud of myself that day & you should be proud that you have what it takes to simply say I won't let them suffer anymore. Keep crafting because it doesn't matter if you're good at doing it. That takes time & practice. What matters is that you enjoy it, you support others in this time & you have a good sellable item there. I know it will sell well & that alone makes you a professional artist/crafter. That's what I told my friends when I sold my first piece. I'm far from living on it but I made a tidy profit.
